On the streets of Missing Mile it was a case of dead men walking – literally.

Those irreparably infected with the Romero virus, commonly known as Zombies, helped themselves to a smörgåsbord of human flesh as unsuspecting citizens ran for their lives.

This is not the first time the Romero virus has surfaced in Missing Mile, though after remaining dormant for so long, the question lingers; why now? What has brought this virus of the undead back to life in our city?

Quick Stop Gas & Grocery at gunpoint

In Crime, Local News on October 9, 2009 at 12:30 am
Quick Stop Robbery Surv

This still was captured by Quick Stop surveillance cameras depicting employee, Manny Dryke, in surrender to the masked and armed burglar.

Quick Stop employee, Manny Dryke, was robbed at gunpoint during his first shift back following medical leave.

Dryke was preoccupied with sorting the overwhelming amount of bills that had accumulated over the past few months in his absence when the robbery occurred.

The burglar, who Dryke depicted as a “masked goomba”, demanded the employee’s arms in the surrender position and the money from the till.  Donning a shotgun, ski mask, and trench coat, the burglar was nearly unidentifiable, and according to Dryke, not particularly memorable.

Burnt food was the only menu option late Thursday evening after a truck explosion spread to ignite popular fast food restaurant, Mooby’s.

MMPD Sergeant Aleksi Zaytsev was the first to arrive on the scene and by that time flames had already engulfed the local hangout.

“There was a large, intense fire spread throughout Mooby’s, which emanated primarily from the husk of a large truck,” Sgt. Zaytsev depicted. “The back of the truck was torn open, like it was the centre of the explosion.”

This large truck was described as plain black and lacking any logos or identifying graphics.

[UPDATED] Cell-13 DVD threatens Mayor’s life

In Crime, Local News, Politics, Terrorism on September 21, 2009 at 12:11 am
A DVD was sent to the Missing Mile Times editor, along with key representatives of the MMPD, depicting members and affiliates of Cell-13 holding the Honorable Mayor Amanda West hostage.
This, just shortly after Missing Mile Times received a Letter to the Editor, written in Arabic and translated as such:
“Down with the media and the infidel. All of you have to pay to take a picture of us without allowing us to come together to form. Give us some damned credit.”
The Missing Mile Times office was being outfitted with a security detail, courtesy of MMPD Detective Roxanna Vestieri, when the unexpected DVD arrived.  After the first few seconds of footage, it became very clear that this was no Netflix.
The video quality was amateur; however, the presented hostage situation was anything but.
A man was shown wearing full tactical armour, black and grey camoflauge attire, and holding an RPK machine gun. This was a match for Chief Inspector Tyiler Scarbidge’s previous description of Cell-13 terrorists.
Even more disturbing was the footage of Missing Mile’s Mayor West taped to a chair with the same duct tape that muffled her screams.
“It seems to me Inspector and all citizens of Missing Mile we have something important to you,” taunted the aforementioned man before laughing sadistically.  He could also be heard screaming in Arabic, often as a precursor to the repeated brutal beatings of Mayor West.
American accents were also noted, both male and female, lending proof to the suspicion of local recruitment.
Upping the ante, a segment of black PVC pipe was wrapped around Mayor West’s neck with this accompanying threat; “I suggest if the lovely town of Missing Mile would like to see the Mayor with her head and her body not in a puddle of liquified flesh, you comply with my orders that this city is now under the control of Cell-13.” He waved what appeared to be a remote detonator before his chilling laughter echoed once more.
Near the end of the haunting footage, the voice of an American male made their rules and conditions more clear.  “You have six hours to have the local police department lower their weapons to the ground. We will have people watching. All those who fail to comply will be shot, and any attempt to attack will result in the death of the Mayor.” After which, the armed Arab leveled his RPK at the camera and with a flash of light and a loud bang, the screen faded to black.
MMPD Forensics have been analyzing the footage in an attempt to find clues as to the Mayor’s location.  Based on both visual and audible observations, MMPD suspect that she is underground and within county limits.
“I know that these are difficult times, but the MMPD has the people’s best interest at heart and mind and we are doing absolutely everything in our power to get the Mayor back safely. We can guarantee that the events today will not go unpunished,” promised Captain Lennon Daines. “Moving forward, all that we ask of you is to remain vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity and try to go about your lives as normal.  Fear is their biggest advantage. Let’s not give it to them.”
MMPD stressed that it’s absolutely imperative the search for Mayor West remain restricted to Police Officials.
This enhanced still was taken from Cell-13's DVD footage and pictures Mayor West at the mercy of her terrorist captors.

MMFD/EMT, kurama49 Minotaur, finds Rabbit Mint face down in the sewer as flames approach.

Missing Mile residents had to wake up and smell the sewage after a sub level fire reached ground level this Labor Day weekend.

MMFD were notified after a citizen saw flames and billowing smoke pouring from Main Avenue.  However, when they arrived on scene a faint, echoing cry for help was heard coming from one of the manholes.  It was then that MMFD Chief Jerry Yebut redirected his team to work from the underground up.
