The transformation from church to crime scene was complete as MMPD detectives secured the sanctuary’s entrance with police tape and blocked traffic at the location of Monday’s gruesome murder.

The victim, who has been identified as Chaow Ling, was found bound to a chair and impaled with a large machete.  His heart in its entirety was affixed securely to the blade’s point in a chilling display of brutality.

Despite the distinct presentation of the deceased, Detectives were adamant that this is an isolated incident, the likes of which they had never seen before.

MMPD Detective Sergeant SeanD Hawksby disclosed that they do have a suspect, who as of press time, is still at large.  Gang involvement is suspected, though Hawksby could not specify which gang is of interest in order to protect the ongoing investigation.

“This person, whomever he or she may be.. when I find them I will personally make sure that the book is thrown at them.  Someone committing a gruesome murder like this doesn’t deserve to be on the streets of our fair city”, Hawksby declared.

And while a suspect may indeed be in the crosshairs, a motive has yet to be established as indicated by Lieutenant Lennon Daines.

“Chaow Ling was a convicted rapist and career criminal.  The possibilites  are endless at this point.”

MMPD estimate that the church will again be available for worship within a 48 hour period.
